(Baonghean) - In recent times, Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce has contributed significantly to training human resources in the fields of tourism - hotels, economics - commerce, business - services, labor export... domestically and internationally.

Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce is one of 40 key schools nationwide invested to become high-quality schools by 2020 according to Decision No. 761/QD-TTg dated May 23, 2014 of the Prime Minister; also one of 25 schools nationwide trained in key international-level occupations from the Australian transfer program. The school has 3 training facilities in Vinh city and Cua Lo town. In addition, the school also trains at 13 affiliated facilities in the province and outside the province such as Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh. The school is training 8 college-level occupations and 6 intermediate-level occupations; the facilities are spacious and modern; nearly 100% of the teaching staff have master's degrees or higher.

The school trains in tourism-related professions such as: Tour guide, Restaurant management, Hotel management, Culinary techniques, Reception management. Currently, the school has expanded its training scale with 3 campuses fully equipped with teaching facilities and equipment (1 campus in Vinh city; 2 campuses in Cua Lo town). Every year, the school provides a large number of students in tourism and hospitality for restaurants and hotels in the area as well as famous domestic tourist areas and resorts such as Bai Lu Resort, Cua Lo town, Mui Ne, Vinpearl Nha Trang...

With a modern infrastructure system, the practice system is invested with imported machinery and equipment from Europe, during the training process, the school always creates conditions for students to study a combination of theory and practice, in which 30% theory, 70% practice. This is a condition to help students find jobs after graduation more conveniently, easily catch up with the job suitable for the major they are trained. In particular, currently there are 2 professions of Tour Guide and Restaurant Management trained by the school according to the transfer program from Chisholm Institute, Victoria State, Australia.

Talking with Ms. Pham Thi Huong - Head of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Staff, it is known that: The international training program transferred from Australia for the profession of Restaurant Management and Tour Guide is contracted by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs for pilot training. The profession of Tour Guide has 4 schools ordered to train, namely: Hue College of Tourism; Hai Phong College of Tourism - Services; Nghe An College of Tourism - Commerce; Vung Tau College of Vocational Training. The profession of Restaurant Management has 2 schools ordered to train, namely Nghe An College of Tourism - Commerce and Vung Tau College of Tourism.

To meet the requirements of Australian training standards, Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce currently has facilities and equipment to ensure the teaching of Tour Guide and Restaurant Management, which have been inspected and evaluated by Chisholm Institute (Australia). In the coming time, the school will continue to invest in equipment and facilities to further improve the quality of facilities to ensure long-term teaching. In the immediate future, the school will choose to train 2 pilot classes of Restaurant Management and Tour Guide (each class has 25 students, high school graduates) according to the transfer program from Australia for training and after graduation, students will be awarded 2 college degrees from Vietnam and Australia. These students must undergo a 6-month study period to achieve a minimum English level of B1 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR). To achieve the minimum English input standard of B1, the school signed a contract with Vietnam Education Development and Trade Company Limited - a unit introduced by the General Department of Vocational Training to organize concentrated training and English exams to obtain B1 certificate.

To ensure that English standards are met, the school has arranged for two teachers, the head and deputy head of the tourism department, to be homeroom teachers for the two classes of Restaurant Management and Tour Guide. All students are tested in English to be divided into 6 different level groups for training; foreign language teachers are arranged to tutor and observe teaching hours in class to ensure that students' learning is most effective. In addition, the school organizes for all students to live in the same dormitory area to manage their study hours outside of regular class hours.

The school arranges teachers who meet Australian standards to teach the profession. In addition, the school also arranges for teachers to register to study in Australia to ensure teaching conditions according to Australian regulations. Both Restaurant Management and Tour Guide professions use the program transferred from Chisholm Institute, Australia and are permitted to be used by the Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in Decision No. 1808/QD-LDTBXH dated December 9, 2015.

Tran Thi Mai, a student of the first course of the Tour Guide major trained according to Australian standards, said: “After graduating, we will be awarded two degrees from Vietnam and Australia. This is an opportunity for us to access advanced countries and at the same time find jobs that match our abilities and capacities after training.”

According to Ms. Pham Thi Huong - Head of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Staff, after training, students will be awarded 2 diplomas (1 diploma from Vietnam and 1 diploma from Chisholm Institute (Australia). If qualified and willing, graduates will be able to transfer to universities in Australia. In addition, students will also be introduced to jobs at large enterprises across the country, and have the opportunity to export labor to ASEAN countries and the world. In the coming time, the School will continue to cooperate with Germany to pilot international training in 2 occupations: Food Processing Technology and Hotel Reception.

With the attention of the Party, the State, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the whole society, the school is proactively taking the lead in training high-quality human resources to meet the development needs of the tourism industry in the new period, contributing to the implementation of Resolution 08-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
