Two days ago, Mr. Ho Van Gioi and two others from Tra Linh commune (Nam Tra My, Quang Nam) walked for four hours into the forest to set a trap. Passing through the primeval forest on the top of Ngoc Linh mountain, they discovered a ginseng plant.
"It grows on the base of a fern tree, the roots cling to the ginseng root so it took more than three hours to dig it up," said Mr. Gioi. The ginseng root is longer than a chopstick, the stem has six branches, and is more than 50 cm high. After washing off the soil and weighing it, the root and stem weighed 800 grams. Mr. Gioi's group brought the ginseng back to sell to a trader.
Mr. Trinh Minh Quy, Director of Ngoc Linh Ginseng Center in Nam Tra My district, assessed that this is a rare and old ginseng root. Currently, in nature, ginseng like this type is very rare.
