Shooting at US school, at least 17 people dead
A horrific shooting occurred at a school in Parkland, Florida, USA on February 14. The suspect was identified as a former student of the school, CBS reported, citing local authorities.

The suspect is a former student.
Initial sources said the suspect was identified as Nicolas Cruz, 18, a former student of the school. Police have now arrested this suspect. This male student was expelled for violating discipline and possessing at least one AR-15 rifle.
At least 16 people died
According to CBS, the shooting occurred around 3 p.m. on February 14 local time at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, about 72 kilometers north of Miami.
A school administrator, Mr. Robert Runcie, told reporters that many people were injured in the shooting and described it as a horrific incident.
Meanwhile, CNN quoted law enforcement sources as saying that the attack left at least 17 people dead and 14 injured. The police chief confirmed that the 17 victims died, including 12 people shot inside the classroom, 2 people in the schoolyard, 1 person on the street and 2 people died while being transferred to the hospital.
Photos posted on the media showed students and staff of the school being evacuated from the scene in fear.

President Trump expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, writing on Twitter: “No child, teacher, or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school.”
