On February 14, the Investigation Police Agency of Cho Lach District Police (Ben Tre Province) announced that they had temporarily detained and investigated Nguyen Quang Hai (29 years old, residing in An Phu Ward, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City) for robbery.

Previously, at 11:30 a.m. on February 13 (the 27th day of the Lunar New Year), Hai entered Phuong Loan gold shop in Hoa Nghia commune (Cho Lach district) pretending to buy a 5-tael 24K gold ring.

When receiving the ring from the shop owner, Hai did not pay but quickly ran out and escaped on his motorbike.

After getting the property, Hai asked an acquaintance to sell it for more than 17 million VND. Upon receiving the victim's report, the police force set up a checkpoint and chased the suspect and the evidence in Phu My commune (Mo Cay Bac district, Ben Tre province).

At the investigation agency, Hai confessed that because he had no money to spend during Tet, he went to the gold shop to commit the crime.
