Wanted for 13 years, arrested when returning home for Tet

Sentenced to 4 years in prison for Intentional Infliction of Injury, Hung was on the run for 13 years before being arrested when he returned to his hometown to celebrate Tet.

On February 13, the Department of Judicial Enforcement and Support Police of Binh Duong Province Police arrested Mai Van Hung (born in 1981), residing in Bau Bang District, Binh Duong Province.

Accordingly, in 2005, Hung beat someone up and caused injury and was later sentenced to 4 years in prison by the Court. However, during his time on bail, Hung fled the area. During this time, Hung went to Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City to work for hire.

Binh Duong Provincial Police Department issued a nationwide wanted warrant for Hung.

After 13 years of disappearance, on February 12, when Hung had just returned to his hometown to prepare for the 2018 Lunar New Year with his family in Bau Bang district (Binh Duong province), he was arrested by the authorities.

Binh Duong Provincial Police are consolidating records and handling the subject according to the provisions of law.
