The most expensive potato snack in the world: Nearly 300,000 VND for a piece as thin as a sheet of paper

I don't know how potato chip fans feel, but normal people certainly can't avoid shaking their hands when holding a piece that costs nearly 300,000 VND.

As expected of a "noble" snack, the reason for its "birth" couldn't be more luxurious: the Swedish beer factory couldn't find any snack on the market that was of good enough quality to enjoy with their beer.

Expensive snacks specially made to go with St. Eriks beer.

A box of snacks only has 5 pieces, and the selling price is 45.68 GBP (nearly 1.5 million VND), so each piece costs nearly 300,000 VND. Despite being so expensive, the first 100 boxes produced sold out almost immediately.

It is not clear whether the factory plans to produce more, so people are rushing to buy them first.

But it’s not for nothing that the factory charges such a high price for this potato snack. The snack is completely handmade and made from the following top ingredients:

Matsutake mushroom is also known as pine mushroom.

With a cheese-like flavor, matsutake mushrooms are one of the most sought-after mushrooms in the world, with processed mushrooms costing up to more than VND40 million/kg.

The mushrooms in the potato chips are picked from pine forests in northern Sweden, picked by hand and the pickers wear cotton gloves so as not to affect the quality of the mushrooms.

Truffle algae

As the name suggests, truffle seaweed has a flavor reminiscent of truffles – the most expensive mushroom in the world. This seaweed is only found in cold tidal waters. The seaweed in the potato chips comes from the waters around the Faroe Islands.

Dill flower

To achieve the unique flavor of dill, the creators of the dish researched many different varieties of dill in Sweden. They finally settled on dill from the Bjäre peninsula in southern Sweden.

Leksand Onion

To achieve the desired onion flavor, the producer chooses Leksand onions, which are always planted on May 18 and harvested on August 10 regardless of the weather.

India Pale Ale.

To add a little sweetness to the potato slices, a splash of India Pale Ale wort is added, which is also used to brew St. Eriks India Pale Ale.

Ammarnäs potatoes

Finally, the main ingredient of the fries: potatoes grown in Ammarnäs. The hillsides where potatoes are grown face south, on high rocky outcrops to absorb and retain heat from the sun. Because potatoes are grown in small quantities and are cared for, harvested, etc. entirely by hand, they are not cheap.

All of these ingredients create the most expensive potato snack on the planet.
