(Baonghean.vn) - In the past few days, people in Hien Son commune, Do Luong district (Nghe An) have flocked to see the "divine fish", causing a stir on social networks. But it is actually a common carp. Looking back, there have been many cases of catching "monsters" that have aroused the curiosity of many people.
In 2009, an angler went to Buoi market (Tay Ho, Hanoi) to buy shrimp for bait, and bought a bunch of shrimp shaped like... monsters. The monster shrimp-crab hybrid caused a stir because it looked like both a shrimp and a crab, and had a nose like a grasshopper's head. It was actually a North American spiny lobster that a freshwater company had been experimenting with breeding in Phu Tho. This type of shrimp lives underwater, but digs burrows and crawls ashore like a crab.
In 2012, Mr. Tran Van Hanh (residing in Block 7, Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City) caught a strange fish with a round, long body, a very different head like a crocodile's head, with sharp teeth in the lake, causing everyone to talk about it. In fact, it was just a rocket fish, a freshwater fish originating from North America.
In 2014, Nguyen Minh Vuong's fishing boat (in Dai Bac hamlet, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An) caught a fish weighing more than 500 kg, 2.8 m long, and 2.5 m wide including fins. This "monster"-looking fish was actually a rare ocean sunfish.
In December 2014, a photo of a strange animal that looked like a monitor lizard and crocodile caught in Bac Giang also attracted the attention of many people. The “monster” weighed more than 18kg, and was rumored to be a giant monitor lizard, but some people also said it was a Komodo dragon.
In 2015, a young man in Vinh Phuc caught a strange-looking animal that caused a stir online. Because they did not know what it was, some people thought it was a “monster” because it looked like the monster in the movie John Carter, even though it did not have fangs.
In 2016, Hanoi residents were in an uproar over the appearance of scaleless carp, or carp with only a few scales, in West Lake. The fish had mottled, colorful bodies and looked very scary, and were called the strange “ghost” carp. But in fact, it was a hybrid of Vietnamese and Hungarian carp. Photo: An Ninh Thu Do.
