Artist Pham Duc Thanh shared that when he did a show in Vietnam, the first person he invited was Quang Le because the two of them worked well together overseas. The two were like teacher and student, and he really wanted Quang Le to sing "Hai Que" and the second person he thought of was Trong Tan.

"I really like Trong Tan because of his very emotional, warm and expressive voice. Two singers singing two completely different genres of music to blend into one hometown melody, it must be very interesting, just thinking about it makes me emotional" - artist Pham Duc Thanh shared.

The artist that the program “Golden Age” chose to honor in the first episode of 2018 is the monochord artist Pham Duc Thanh. During a trip to Vietnam to work and perform in 2017, with a chance meeting with singer Nguyen Ngoc Cham, artist Pham Duc Thanh expressed his dream of once in his life to do a live show in Vietnam.

Artist Pham Duc Thanh confided: "I love the monochord, a special instrument that carries the distinct cultural identity of the Vietnamese people. I call the monochord the "princess" of Vietnamese traditional musical instruments. The tones of the monochord evoke emotions in listeners about distant lands, the melodious sound of the instrument reminds them of their homeland...

When I perform in the US or around the world, wherever I go, I receive special love for the monochord, so I always dream of having a concert to honor the instrument, and I want to play it in my own homeland."

Artist Pham Duc Thanh's music night had the special appearance of singers from many different music genres that audiences rarely see on the same stage such as: Quang Le, Trong Tan, Thanh Thanh Hien, saxophone artist Tran Manh Tuan, Bao Khanh, Le Trinh, Hoang Ngoc Son, Phuong Linh...

To prepare for this live show, artist Pham Duc Thanh returned to Vietnam many times with stage director Dinh Anh Dung, music director Minh Dao, and the dance troupe to discuss and find the highlights for the program, which are the diversity of the monochord in folk music, Xam singing, in traditional orchestras, modern music combined with DJs, contemporary dance, and electronic music.
