“Strong President - Strong Russia”
The campaign slogan of current Russian President Putin in the upcoming election is “Strong President – Strong Russia”. So what does the Federal Message that Mr. Putin just announced show about this campaign slogan?
At the beginning of his speech, President Putin emphasized that this Federal Message is of a special and milestone nature. This is a very important time, including the upcoming presidential election.
And it is precisely at such turning points that Russia has demonstrated its capacity for development. Russia has ensured stability in most areas of life, which is extremely important. However, President Putin believes that stability is only the foundation, not the guarantee of further development.
With such a perspective, the head of Russia pointed out that, in order to move forward, to develop dynamically, it is necessary to expand the space of freedom: to strengthen democratic institutions, civil society, and openness to the world.
He also warned about the risk of the country falling behind. According to him, "technological lag means reducing the country's economic potential and security, and is a threat to its independence and sovereignty." Therefore, the Russian President proposed strengthening the policy of educational equity and removing barriers in robotics and artificial intelligence technology.
President Putin has proposed many solutions to continue improving people's living standards and quality of life, prolonging life expectancy; improving the quality of healthcare services; striving to make Russia one of the countries with an average life expectancy of over 80 years by the end of the next decade.
He also set a target of increasing the gross domestic product (GDP) by 1.5 times in the next 10 years. He particularly emphasized the application of new technologies in economic development, creating many new and quality jobs. Russia plans to attract at least 1.5 trillion rubles of private investment in the next 6 years to innovate the electricity industry.
The Russian leader also pointed out a series of major infrastructure projects being implemented, such as the construction of the Crimean Bridge and the railway connecting to Crimea, which will facilitate the development of southern Russia; or a series of large-scale projects in the Arctic region, including strengthening the scientific, transport, and military infrastructure in this region.
“The government is building modern nuclear-powered icebreakers. The Russian Arctic fleet was, is and will be the most powerful in the world,” President Putin affirmed.
The Russian President also spent a lot of time talking about military capabilities, introducing modern, advanced weapons to ensure the country's security.
All the contents stated in the message show the ambition of the Russian leader for a country that develops strongly in all aspects from economy to society, security and defense.
Foreign policy orientation
In his message, President Putin emphasized Russia's tough stance in foreign policy, saying that other countries have begun to "listen" to Russia after it created new weapons systems. The head of Russia hopes that his words will awaken any potential aggressors. According to him, the parties need to sit down at the negotiating table and discuss a new international security system.
The Russian President stressed that his country had repeatedly tried to persuade the US not to violate the Missile Defense Treaty and not to disrupt the balance, but all in vain. All of Russia's proposals were rejected.
Therefore, Russia has declared that it is forced to perfect modern weapons systems. Mr. Putin said that Russia is creating new air defense systems to respond to the deployment of US forces. Russia is also developing a new type of missile that can reach anywhere in the world and is difficult to intercept...
The Russian President affirmed that all efforts to strengthen Russia's defense capabilities are within the framework of international agreements. Russia's increased military power does not threaten anyone or take anything from anyone. Russia has everything. Russia's weapons are a guarantee of peace on the planet.
Russian public opinion on the Federal Message
The Russian public received the 2018 Federal Address positively. In particular, the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy Valeri Riazanski said that this was a strong message, which impressed him for many reasons. For example, the development of human beings such as a dignified old age, a comfortable living environment, convenient healthcare, all aimed at increasing the life expectancy of the people that the President set out is a difficult but feasible task.
Associate Professor of the Faculty of Finance and Banking (FFBC) - Russian Academy of Science and Technology Sergey Hestanov commented that the requirement raised by President Putin: mortgage loans should be provided to almost everyone, so that 5 million Russian families can improve their housing every year is achievable. Because according to Mr. Hestanov, there are no technical obstacles to reducing the mortgage rate to 7-8%. Inflation is currently low, even if it increases, there will still be a reserve to reduce the rate.
It can be seen that President Putin spent most of the two hours talking about the task of economic development, solving social security, and focusing on improving people's quality of life.
That proves that the Russian leader's concern is to promote internal strength, build a strong Russia in all aspects of economy, politics, military, science, education, culture... And many experts believe that the challenge for the elected Russian President in the upcoming term is to develop the economy and increase income for the population. Therefore, with the content that President Putin mentioned in the message, it will certainly continue to attract the attention of the majority of people and they will compare it with the election platforms of other candidates to have a choice in the upcoming Russian presidential election./.
