Hand out cold ginseng water to passersby. |
Not knowing each other, seeing the free water and food distribution point, many tourists who came to pray for good luck at the beginning of the year at Ba Thien Hau Pagoda also rolled up their sleeves to help the volunteers. The crowds of people pouring into Ba Pagoda grew larger and larger, from Binh Duong Avenue, bottles of water, food boxes, loaves of bread… were handed to exhausted tourists after traveling many kilometers.
“How kind they are, I accidentally ran a dozen meters past them, they chased after me and tried to give me a bottle of water and food. Before I could get off, I saw two people running over and stuffing three bottles of water into my hands. I only asked for one bottle for my husband, my wife and the little girl to drink, they said three bottles for three people. Never before has water been so sweet…”, Ms. Nhan Thuc Dai, who lives in Long An, shared emotionally.

While most spring travel and festival spots always take advantage of this opportunity to "rip off" as much as possible, in the area around Ba Temple, there are many places that provide free services, from drinks, food, cold towels to tire repair. All of the above places are voluntarily set up by local people to support visitors when they come to the temple.
“On normal days, when my business is going well, on occasions like this, I give them away for free as a way to thank everyone and wish everyone a peaceful and happy new year…”, Mr. Tau Phi Long, the owner of a shop near Thien Hau Pagoda happily confided.
