Forbes: Vietnam has 4 billionaires
This year, Vietnam has two new billionaires, Hoa Phat Chairman - Tran Dinh Long and Thaco Chairman - Tran Ba Duong.
Forbes magazine (USA) has just announced the list of world billionaires in 2018. Accordingly, this year Vietnam has 4 representatives owning billion-dollar assets. They are Vingroup Chairman - Pham Nhat Vuong, VietJet Air CEO - Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman - Tran Dinh Long and Thaco Chairman - Tran Ba Duong.

This is the 6th consecutive year that Mr. Vuong has been on this list, with assets of 4.3 billion USD, ranking 499th in the world, an increase of 1.9 billion USD compared to last year. He was first honored by Forbes in 2013, with 1.5 billion USD, ranking 974th.
For Ms. Thao, this is the second time she has appeared on the list of world billionaires, with assets of 3.1 billion USD, ranking 766th. Ms. Thao was a member of the Board of Directors of several commercial banks in Vietnam before joining the Ho Chi Minh City Development Bank (HDBank) as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. She is currently the CEO of VietJet Air.
Meanwhile, Mr. Duong and Mr. Long are two new billionaires in Vietnam this year. Both have assets of 1.8 billion USD and 1.3 billion USD respectively, ranking1.339 and1,756 worlds.

Mr. Tran Dinh Long founded Hoa Phat in 1992 in Hanoi. The group currently produces office equipment, steel pipes, construction steel and is considered the largest steel producer in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Ba Duong founded Truong Hai Auto Corporation (Thaco) in 1997. Initially, they sold cars, then gradually assembled cars for foreign brands, such as Kia, Mazda and Peugeot. In 2016, Thaco became the largest car company in Vietnam, with 32% market share, according toForbes.In addition, Thaco also produces Vietnamese brand buses and trucks.
In the world, the richest person this year is Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, with 112 billion USD. Since October 2017, he has officially surpassed Gates to take this position. The co-founder of Microsoft currently has 90 billion USD. Following are investment legend Warren Buffett (84 billion USD) and Chairman and CEO of LVMH - Bernard Arnault (72 billion USD).
This is the 32nd year that Forbes has published its list of the world's richest people. The number of billionaires worldwide continues to set a record, with 2,208 people. The person with the biggest increase in wealth this year is Amazon boss Jeff Bezos with 39.2 billion USD. This is also the biggest increase since Forbes started publishing this list.
Last year, the world created 259 new billionaires in a variety of fields, from technology to aerospace to wedding dresses. China contributed the most representatives, with 89 billionaires, followed by the US with 18. This is also the first time China has two billionaires in the top 20, Tencent boss Ma Huateng (17th) and Alibaba boss Jack Ma (20th).
