V-League 2018 suddenly copyright hot: Who is destroying who?
Before they could be happy with the sponsorship money from NutiFood for the 2018 season, VPF immediately put V-League in a rather difficult position when they demanded to change their TV partner for many years. No one else but the fans suffered the most when it was difficult to watch the full tournament on TV.
V-League stadiums without spectators in 2017 season:
Very realistic...
In fact, what the new Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of VPF, Tran Anh Tu, shared with the media, along with the reason given for "dissolving" the contract with Next Media, is not new and quite normal in an economic contract.
That means, VPF feels that this partner is not capable enough to handle the work according to the contract, as well as violating the signed terms. However, the unusual thing is: at this time, VPF has not found a new "connection" to fill the gap.
After the handshake that is considered to change a lot about the tournament with media and television partners... |
Not only that, the new Board of Directors and Board of Directors of VPF also surprised many people when they unilaterally requested to terminate the contract, at a time when fans and experts felt that the above unit could still handle the work as per the contract with the partner.
There are many issues behind this story, but the way VPF handled it is not completely convincing. Like the way Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director Tran Anh Tu shared and spoke at the press conference to sign the sponsorship contract for the new season on the morning of March 5.
What is not convincing is that Mr. Tu still insists that the reason for parting ways with Next Media is because the economic benefits of V-League are not as good as the image that this tournament has.
But in return, the new chairman of the VPF Board of Directors also added that it is very difficult to find a TV station to sign a television contract because... V-League still has many problems.
But too few solutions
It must be said that, at the time of the transfer of power at VPF, many people hoped for some strong change to bring V-League back to its golden age.
And the truth is, VPF has also changed a lot in terms of management. However, as mentioned, it seems that this drastic change has also caused the V-League organizer and operator to rush, and the proof is the story mentioned above, despite the tournament about to start.
But now, the new VPF Board of Directors is changing the contract to put V-League in a difficult position. |
V-League needs to change, but in other management matters, for example improving the quality of matches (from the pitch, facilities...) but touching on image copyright at this time is not yet ripe. Especially when in the past few years, fans have been quite satisfied with watching the tournament on television, internet platforms...
No matter what people say, V-League is still not really a delicious cake, and it also needs to be brought closer to fans through media and television instead of limiting live television - the way major tournaments in Europe do with fans, which VPF is trying to do.
Of course, V-League needs to attract audiences to the stadium, but clearly at the time and with what this tournament possesses, if it reaches fans through television and the internet, it would be too good instead of increasing its real value as seen.
The effect that U23 Vietnam is creating for V-League now seems redundant, when VPF is determined to renew itself in the way they think. But football that does not reach the audience is extremely difficult.
