Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online reporters on the evening of March 7, Secretary General and Spokesperson of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc said that the information published by some newspapers about "possibly taking an early vote of confidence" was based on the initial plan for the 22nd session of the National Assembly Standing Committee.

"Initially, such a meeting agenda was planned, but this content was removed from the agenda of the 22nd session of the National Assembly Standing Committee. The vote of confidence will still be carried out in accordance with the law," Mr. Nguyen Hanh Phuc affirmed.
Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee Tran Van Tuy also confirmed to Tuoi Tre Online that "there is no such thing as taking an early vote of confidence, because if we do so, we have to report to the National Assembly Standing Committee, submit to competent authorities and amend legal regulations."

According to the provisions of Resolution 85/2015 of the National Assembly on taking a vote of confidence, the National Assembly and People's Councils will organize a vote of confidence for the person holding the position elected or approved by the National Assembly and People's Councils once per term, at the regular session at the end of the third year of the term.
Thus, the vote of confidence for the above positions will be conducted by the National Assembly and People's Councils at the end of 2018 session in accordance with regulations.
On March 7, several newspapers reported that the National Assembly Standing Committee would give its opinion on the proposal to "push" the vote of confidence to a session, meaning to carry it out in the mid-2018 session. The newspapers did not give a reason for this proposal.
As planned, the National Assembly Standing Committee will hold its 22nd session early next week (March 12) to give opinions on a number of drafts such as the Law on Anti-Corruption (amended); the Law on Special Administrative-Economic Units, the Law on Competition (amended), the Law on Amending and Supplementing a Number of Articles of the Law on Education and the Law on Higher Education, etc.
The session will also decide to dismiss Mr. Ngo Duc Manh, who was recently appointed Ambassador to the Russian Federation, from his duties as a National Assembly deputy.

Also within the framework of the 22nd session, the National Assembly Standing Committee will question Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long and Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh.
