Nghe An farmers successfully grow Israeli cucumbers using greenhouse technology
(Baonghean.vn) - For the first time, the Israeli cucumber variety with high yield and quality has been harvested in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An.
These days, more than 2,400 Israeli cucumber plants grown using VietGAP technology in the greenhouse of Mr. Ho Phuc Hoang's family, Van Dong hamlet, Quynh Bang commune (Quynh Luu) are entering the harvest season.

With a yield of nearly 7 tons/1,000m2, 2.2 times higher than traditional cucumber varieties, this is considered a major breakthrough for farmers in Quynh Luu.
Along with the outstanding yield, the quality of this cucumber variety is also highly appreciated as the fruit is dense, has few seeds, and has high sugar and nutrient content. Therefore, the average purchase price at the garden is over 18,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of traditional cucumbers only fluctuates from 8,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.
In addition, because it is an early harvest variety with a total cultivation time of only 2 months (1/3 shorter than traditional cucumbers), it saves a lot of costs and care.

It is known that Mr. Ho Phuc Hoang is a pilot household in the Project "Application of high technology in agricultural production" of Quynh Luu district.

Mr. Hoang shared that this is a modern agricultural model, with an investment capital of more than 400 million VND to build a greenhouse, buy machinery and equipment, an automatic irrigation system... on an area of 1,000m2. The greenhouse system helps the melons avoid storms, frost and prevent insects and pests from entering.
Each cucumber plant is planted in a coconut fiber pot, placed in a bed lined with plastic sheeting to isolate it from the ground to avoid pathogens. The irrigation system is fully automatic using Israeli drip irrigation technology. This is an automatic irrigation system with fertilizer pre-dissolved in the water, helping to reduce labor costs, especially managing pesticide residues. Thanks to that, the cucumbers grow well, with an average yield of nearly 4kg/plant.
From the initial success, in the coming time, Mr. Ho Phuc Hoang will continue to sign a contract with AurGa Clean Food Joint Stock Company to ensure stable output for the following seasons.
