USS Carl Vinson conducts exercises with Japanese warships in the East Sea
The USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier strike group began joint exercises with a Japanese helicopter carrier as it transited the South China Sea.

The US aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson and the guided-missile destroyer USS Wayne E. Meyer began bilateral exercises with the aircraft carrierIse helicopter of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF)on the East Sea,Japan TimesMarch 13 news.
The US Navy said the joint exercise began on March 11 as the warships passed through the South China Sea, but did not disclose the specific schedule for security reasons. The duration of the exercise was not announced, but it will last “more than a few days”.
As part of the exercises, four MSDF liaison officers boarded the Vinson aircraft carrier to support joint operations, includinganti-submarine and air defense training. Meanwhile, the Ise will practice replenishment operations at sea for the Carl Vinson.
According to the spokesman of the USS Carl Vinson strike groupTim Hawkins,The exact duration of this exercise will be announced later, it is expected to last for several days.
"Working with maritime partners on the high seas is how we have maintained security, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region for more than 70 years. Last year, USS Carl Vinson also exercised with the MSDF, and this year we will continue to do so,"Tim Hawkins, spokesman for the USS Carl Vinson strike group,emphasize.
