The female driver who caused the fatal accident is the wife of a police officer, so after seeing that the scene was not as it was originally, people livestreamed on Facebook claiming that "the police falsified the records"...

On the morning of March 16, the leader of Buon Ma Thuot City Police, Dak Lak province, announced that they had initiated a criminal case and prosecuted the female driver of a four-seat car who hit and killed a person at Tan An market (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak province) exactly two months ago.

The person prosecuted for violating regulations on road traffic control is Hoang Thi Thuy (27 years old, residing in Phuoc An town, Krong Pak district, Dak Lak province).

The case caused a stir in public opinion because after the accident occurred, people posted a clip on Facebook claiming that the city police had distorted the scene, creating "mitigating circumstances" for the person who caused the accident because she was the wife of a police officer.

According to the initial investigation, at noon on January 16, Ms. Thuy was driving a four-seater car on Ngo Quyen Street from Ngo Gia Tu Street to Ly Tu Trong Street. When she reached Tan An Market, she caused an accident that killed Mr. Pham Ngoc Hoang (28 years old) and Ms. Huynh Thi Nga (30 years old), both from Buon Ma Thuot City.

The incident seemed to be just a traffic accident caused by the driver mistakenly stepping on the gas pedal (instead, he should have stepped on the brake). However, a clip later appeared on Facebook claiming that the woman was a "police officer's relative" so the case was not handled objectively...

Speaking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Tien Thang - Deputy Chief of Police, Deputy Head of the Investigation Police Agency of Buon Ma Thuot City Police, the unit handling the investigation of the case, affirmed that the police agency had handled the traffic accident at Tan An market objectively and in accordance with regulations.

"Ms. Thuy is indeed the wife of a police officer in Krong Pak district (Dak Lak), but that does not mean the police agency will distort the scene or the case file. Regardless of who caused the accident, Buon Ma Thuot City Police will handle it in accordance with the law and the objective truth of what happened," affirmed Lieutenant Colonel Thang.

Regarding the people's belief that the car that caused the accident was not in the correct final position and had moved, Lieutenant Colonel Thang explained that: When the car hit the victim, Nga, it ran 2 meters more, hit the electric pole and stopped. At this time, the victim was stuck between the car and the electric pole, so the people asked Ms. Thuy to back up the car to get the victim out.

When the police arrived at the scene, the situation was already like that. The people also said that they asked Ms. Thuy to back up the car to save the victim. The unit also recorded the actual scene (the car had backed out) and the accident scene according to the witness statements to serve as a basis for handling the case.
