US officials say President Donald Trump is ready to fire National Security Adviser HR McMaster.

CNNAccording to US officials, HR McMaster's departure is likely to happen soon, as earlier this week, Trump announced that he planned to fire assistants who he said had ideological conflicts with him at work and recruit people who were willing to meet all the President's requirements.

Earlier, on March 8, the White House denied the information that Mr. McMaster would have to leave. White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders affirmed: "General McMaster is not going anywhere."

According to White House sources, Mr. Trump’s desire to fire Mr. McMaster has been simmering for several months due to differences in “personality and style” between the two men. Meanwhile, sources close to Mr. McMaster also confirmed that he has felt “walking on thin ice” for several months.

According to US officials, there have been rumors in the West Wing that Mr. McMaster would be fired since the fall of 2017. However, his continued tenure is believed to stem from President Trump and his advisers' hesitation at the prospect of having three National Security Advisors in the White House in less than a year.

Another reason for Mr. McMaster's continued retention is that the White House finds it difficult to attract talent if it continues to fire officials who dare to openly criticize the President or those involved in the investigation into Russian interference in the US election.

Mr. Michael Flynn, the first National Security Advisor working under President Trump, had to resign after less than a month due to controversy over his "unusual relationship" with Russian officials./.
