Searching for 'online fiance', 2 Mong female students in Nghe An go missing
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Ly Ga Da (Nam Tot village, Tri Le commune, Que Phong district) has just filed a report with Que Phong district police about his two daughters, who are in 9th grade, being tricked into going to Lao Cai province and have been missing for 3 days.
According to Mr. Ly Ga Da's complaint, around the end of January 2018, a strange Facebook account continuously texted and called his daughter, Ly Y Nu (born in 2000), who is studying in class 9A2 at Tri Le Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Tri Le Commune (Que Phong), asking to get to know her.

During the time of getting to know each other, in order to gain the trust of female student Ly Y Nu, this Facebook account sent some pictures related to the military and said that was his workplace (this person said he worked in the Chinese military).
After a short time of getting to know each other and flirting, the stranger said he wanted to marry the female student Ly Y Nu in Lao Cai province and asked her to send him a copy of her ID card so he could send her money for travel expenses. Ly Y Nu agreed, followed the stranger's instructions and took a photo of her sister Ly Y Nhenh's ID card (born in 1997, she is the older sister but studied in the same class as Y Nu) and sent it.

At 2:30 p.m. on March 12, female student Ly Y Nu received a call from her "lover" informing her that 5 million VND had been transferred to the ID number that Y Nu had sent to him. He told Y Nu and Ly Y Nhenh to go to the Agricultural Bank of Que Phong district to withdraw the money and then take a bus to Lao Cai to complete the marriage registration procedures between him and female student Ly Y Nu.
The two female students hastily wrote a leave application to visit a sick person and then went to town to withdraw money to go. At around 5:00 p.m. on March 12, female student Ly Y Nhenh called her family to inform them that she and Ly Y Nu were preparing to get on the bus to Hanoi and then go to Lao Cai to complete the marriage registration procedures with her "fiancé".
Teacher Le Thi Hoai Thu (teacher at the school the children are attending) said: “At around 9pm the same day (March 12), I called Ly Y Nhenh (Y Nu's older sister - PV) to ask her to help look after my young child the next morning, and was told that the two children were on their way to Hanoi to play.
After asking, I was very worried and tried to stop the two girls from going back, but they couldn't. They said they had to go because they trusted Ly Y Nu's "lover" very much because he was a soldier and very kind, and had sent money back for the two girls to go...
Unable to convince them, I immediately called the Que Phong district police and asked the bus company to keep the two children (Dung Giap bus company runs the route Que Phong - Nuoc Ngam bus station in Hanoi). The bus company kept them at Nuoc Ngam bus station but for some reason, the two children disappeared afterwards.

Talking with Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, owner of Dung Giap bus company, whose registered residence is in Thai Hoa town, he learned that: There were 3 people on the bus company, the driver was tired when he arrived at the station so he slept, another person went to the ticket office, the remaining person watched the bus and 2 girls also received passengers and luggage to return to Que Phong at 7:30 on March 13, but when this person went to the restroom and returned, the 2 female students were nowhere to be seen.

Talking with Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thanh, Principal of Tri Le Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Mr. Thanh confirmed that that afternoon, the two students had written a request for leave to visit a sick relative and the school agreed to let them leave for a legitimate reason (the two students were boarding students, their house was about 17 km - 25 km of forest road from the school - PV), he did not think that the two students would make such a foolish decision, now everyone must ask the authorities to intervene, clarify and rescue the two students.
Teacher Le Thi Thu added: “After knowing that the students had escaped from the bus station, I felt uneasy and worried about the two students, so I told Ly Y Nhenh to send me the current location and phone number of that strange man. At around 1pm on March 13, Ly Y Nhenh felt uneasy, so she sent me the phone number of that man and said that a taxi had picked up the two students to Lao Cai. At 2:26pm on the same day, Ly Y Nhenh took and posted a photo on her personal Facebook page as requested by me, and then lost contact with the two students.”![]() |

A cousin of the two female students said: Because he found Ly Y Nu's Facebook password, he checked their messages and found out the time the two of them contacted each other and after 2:26 p.m. on March 13, the Facebook account that the man used to "chat" with the two girls was also blocked from their Facebook accounts. Before that, when this person asked to send a photo of the receipt, he learned that the two girls received money from a bank account on the afternoon of March 12, 2018, named Hang Seo Phong.
Currently, Que Phong district police have received the report and are taking steps. We will inform you further when we have results from the investigation agency.
