If you feel insecure about your breath, try these simple methods.

The main cause of bad breath is the buildup of bacteria on the back of your tongue or between your teeth. Maintaining good oral hygiene will help control your bad breath. Here are some home remedies you can try to prevent bad breath.

1. Fennel seeds

Fennel seeds are an excellent breath freshener that helps control bad breath. They contain antimicrobial properties that fight bacteria inside the mouth.

Instructions: Chew one tablespoon of fennel seeds after meals. You can also make yourself a cup of fennel tea.

2. Beetroot seeds

Beetroot seeds are excellent for eliminating bad breath. Drinking beetroot tea is very effective in treating halitosis.

How to make beetroot tea: Add one teaspoon of beetroot seeds to a cup of boiling water. Strain the liquid and drink the tea once a day.

3. Cloves

Cloves are great for freshening your breath and also contain antibacterial properties that are helpful in eliminating bad breath.

Instructions: Soak chopped cloves until soft, then put them in your mouth and chew for about 1-1.5 minutes (after meals). Do this several times a day for a few months, and you will see amazing results. You can also brew clove leaves into tea to drink.

4. Lemon juice

The acid content in lemons prevents the growth of bacteria in your mouth, helping to cleanse the oral cavity.

Instructions: Mix lemon juice and a little salt with filtered water and use as a daily mouthwash. Alternatively, mix lemon juice with honey and drink daily for fresh breath.

5. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is an excellent remedy for bad breath thanks to its pH-balancing effects, which help fight odor-causing bacteria.

Instructions: Mix a small amount of apple cider vinegar with cooled boiled water and rinse your mouth every morning to treat bad breath.

6. Cinnamon

Cinnamon can treat bad breath because it contains cinnamaldehyde, which helps reduce the amount of bacteria in the mouth.

Instructions: Boil one teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a bowl of water. Add bay leaves and cardamom. Strain the liquid and use it to rinse your mouth daily.

Instructions: Use fresh mint leaves, the older the better, crush them and extract the juice. Mix with filtered water in a 1:3 ratio and use as a daily mouthwash. Eating mint leaves raw also helps treat bad breath.

9. Parsley

Parsley is a great home remedy for bad breath. It contains chlorophyll, which acts as an antibacterial agent and helps eliminate odors.

Instructions: Soak parsley leaves in vinegar and chew for about 2 minutes. Alternatively, you can use the juice of parsley leaves as a mouthwash.

Other ways to treat bad breath

Brush your teeth daily after each meal. Then use dental floss to clean between your teeth to remove plaque from the gum line.

Scrape your tongue daily, including the back, to remove leftover food particles.

Drink 2 liters of water a day to prevent dry mouth.

Limit your consumption of alcohol, beer, and tobacco.

Chewing sugar-free mint-flavored gum increases saliva production, which helps kill bacteria.

Rinse your mouth daily with salt water after meals to disrupt the pH balance of your mouth and cleanse it.
