Transferring the case of Trinh Xuan Thanh and accomplices to the Court of Appeal

The Hanoi People's Court transferred the case file of Trinh Xuan Thanh and 21 accomplices in the case that occurred at PVC to the Hanoi High People's Court for appeal.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chief Justice of the Hanoi People's Court, confirmed that he had transferred the case file of Trinh Xuan Thanh, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC), and 21 accomplices in the case of embezzlement and intentional violation of state regulations on economic management causing serious consequences at PVC, to the Hanoi High People's Court for appeal.

Mr. Chinh also confirmed that 15/22 defendants in this case appealed.

Notably, defendant Trinh Xuan Thanh's son, Trinh Hung Cuong, also filed an appeal, requesting the return of his assets, including villa number AD02-16 in Vinhomes Riverside ecological urban area; apartment number 15F05, The Costa 32-34 Tran Phu, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa; and a white Mazda CX5 car, license plate number 30A-970.97.

Previously, the first instance criminal judgment of the Hanoi People's Court continued to maintain the seizure order of the Security Investigation Agency - Ministry of Public Security for the above assets. The savings book of Trinh Xuan Thanh and his wife and two sons, the number of securities shares owned by Trinh Xuan Thanh and his wife were also frozen by the first instance court, not allowing transfer to ensure execution of the judgment.

According to the appeal, Mr. Trinh Hung Cuong said that the above assets were left to him by his grandparents and are not subject to execution of the judgment.
