Over 1,000 youth union members participated in Earth Hour 2018.
(Baonghean.vn) - On March 24, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, in coordination with relevant departments and agencies, organized a ceremony to launch the campaign in response to Earth Hour 2018.
Attending the launching ceremony were delegates including: Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province; Pham Tuan Vinh - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union; representatives from the leadership of several departments and agencies; and more than 1,000 youth union members from 5 grassroots youth union branches in Vinh City.

Earth Hour 2018 will officially begin from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday (March 24th) with the slogan..."Today I live greener." This is the 8th year that Nghe An has participated in Earth Hour.
The launch ceremony for Earth Hour 2018 is one of a series of traditional activities aimed at raising awareness among people, especially the younger generation, about the consequences and impacts of climate change on the Earth; and solutions to mitigate these impacts.

At the ceremony, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien called on communities, businesses, agencies, and units to make a change together, to switch off unnecessary electrical devices for one hour or more.

"Every small action we take will have a big impact, contributing to changing public awareness about environmental protection, energy conservation, climate change adaptation, and preserving the country's natural resources, not only for us today but also for future generations."

Over 1,000 youth union members from 5 branches: the Provincial Agencies' Youth Union; the Business Sector Youth Union; Nghe An College of Education; Vinh University of Medicine; and Le Viet Thuat High School, representing the young generation of Nghe An, pledged to actively participate in Earth Hour 2018. Immediately after the launching ceremony, the union members, students, and university students organized a bicycle parade through the main streets of Vinh City.
