Bolero Idol 3 is broadcast on VTV3 every Thursday night and has gone through 2 rounds so far. In the Elite round, 43 contestants from all over the country competed. Nguyen Duc Truong was considered one of the 6 excellent contestants from the Ho Chi Minh City preliminary round and was also the opening contestant of Bolero Idol 2018.
With the song “Love alone” by Trinh Lam Ngan, the boy in the white blouse with a sweet, deep voice “stole the hearts” of the coaches. Quang Le and Nhu Quynh “fought” to choose this contestant from Nghe An. According to the rules of the game, when 2 or more coaches press the button at the same time, the contestant has the right to choose who to go with and Duc Truong chose to go with Quang Le’s team.

In the “Challenge” round (mid-March), Duc Truong and two other contestants, Ngoc Danh and Duy Toan, collaborated smoothly in the two songs “Hoa su nha nang” and “Hoa tim nguoi xua”. With their handsome, elegant appearance and soulful voices, the trio performance of the “3 guys in flower shirts” captured the hearts of the audience, sweet in every lyric. Truong was considered a contestant with a good, warm voice, stable in all emotional ranges.
At the end of the “Essence” round, all 4/4 contestants from Nghe An participating in the competition were entered into the next round, however, after the “Challenge” round, only 2 “unique” faces continued: a doctor (Duc Truong) and a university lecturer (Duy Cuong – Doctor of Philosophy, from Nghi Loc).
Leaving Ho Chi Minh City to continue his professional work in Da Lat City, Truong shared: “Getting into this round is already a success for me. Before the competition, I still thought I would leave early, but unexpectedly I still made it to the next round. Honestly, I have loved singing since I was a child, but only after participating in this competition did I understand Bolero and I sang with all my passion.”

It is known that Truong graduated from Vinh Medical University, majoring in medical technology (diagnostic imaging). He is currently working at Lam Dong General Hospital. As a lover of singing, especially Bolero music, whenever he has free time from his work at the hospital, this Nghe An guy "burys his head" in music.
To prepare for the training and competition, Truong has purchased many equipment, practiced singing at home and actively sang at wedding centers. Truong said that he has not attended any music training classes, what he has achieved is due to his talent and self-study. When Truong participated in the Bolero Idol contest on VTV3, his family, relatives and colleagues at Lam Dong General Hospital all supported and created all conditions for Truong to compete.

Before returning to Ho Chi Minh City to compete in the next round, Truong had an exchange with his fellow countrymen from Nam Dan district on social networks, sang songs about his hometown Nghe An and received encouragement from his hometown.
Truong shared: “First of all, I entered the competition to test myself on a big stage, to satisfy my passion for singing, and then to bring my voice to everyone, to my hometown. If I have a chance with the stage, if my voice is accepted by everyone, I will be so happy, who knows, I might change my career.”
The road ahead for the "music-loving doctor" is still full of hardships, but Truong is determined to pursue: "No matter what the outcome, my passion for music will always burn."
