The South Korean and North Korean delegations met at 10 a.m. on March 29 at Tongilgak building, north of the Panmunjom truce village on the border between the two Koreas.Yonhapinformation from the Ministry of Unification of Korea.

The move comes as South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un are scheduled to meet in April at Panmunjom. This will be the third summit between the two Koreas, following meetings in 2000 and 2007.

According to a South Korean presidential official, the two countries' delegations may set a date for the bilateral summit, the agenda and preparatory activities for the meeting.

"The issue of denuclearization (of North Korea) is the most important... That is the issue we will focus on discussing," South Korean Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon, head of the South Korean delegation, told reporters before arriving at Panmunjom.

Kim Jong-un made a surprise visit to China earlier this week, holding his first talks with President Xi Jinping. Analysts said the move was to prepare for a summit with Moon Jae-in and US President Donald Trump, scheduled for May.
