(Baonghean.vn) - On March 29, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Nguyen Viet An, born in 1993, residing in Hamlet 2, Thanh Tan, Ky Tan Commune (Tan Ky District) for the crime of "theft of property".
According to the indictment, between November 2 and December 25, 2017, An committed two crimes.
The first act, at around 6:00 p.m. on November 2, 2017, An walked alone to the entertainment area behind the Tan Ky District Cultural Center. Here, An stole a motor attached to a sugarcane press and a battery next to a children's toy car.

After stealing the above mentioned assets, An took the motor to sell at a scrap shop in Block 10, Tan Ky town for 120,000 VND; and the battery, An took to sell at an auto repair garage in Hamlet 2, Thanh Tan, Ky Tan commune for 130,000 VND. An used the above money for personal expenses.
The second act, at around 4:00 p.m. on December 25, 2017, An walked from his home to Nha La restaurant in block 3, Tan Ky town to play. When he arrived and saw no one, An went inside and secretly took a Lenovo mobile phone from the kitchen table and put it in his pocket, then went home.
On December 31, 2017, fearing that the police would be looking for him, An returned the phone to Ms. Phuong, the owner of the shop. On January 12, 2018, realizing that his actions were illegal, An voluntarily surrendered to the Tan Ky District Police.
The Tan Ky District People's Committee's Valuation Council concluded that the total value of the property that An stole was 1,140,000 VND.
Considering that, previously, An was sentenced by Tan Ky District People's Court to 5 years in prison for two trials for theft of property, and was warned by Tan Ky Town Police for theft.
Currently, although his criminal record has been cleared, An has not improved his business and continues to do the same thing. At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Nguyen Viet An to 12 months in prison.
