Nghe An: Closing 2 unlicensed medical facilities

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 29, a working group of the Department of Health led by Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh, Acting Director of the Department of Health, conducted a surprise inspection and discovered two unlicensed medical and pharmaceutical establishments in Hung Nguyen district.

The two establishments operating without a license are the Oriental Medicine Clinic of Traditional Medicine Practitioner Cao Viet and Pharmacy Counter No. 25 of Hung Nguyen Pharmaceutical Branch in Hung Tay Commune.

At the time of the inspection of the Oriental Medicine Treatment Room, Mr. Cao Viet was performing acupuncture on a patient. He himself did not have a practicing certificate. When requested, Mr. Viet presented the practicing certificate of his son who currently resides in Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh.

In the treatment room, the tools used to store traditional medicine are unsafe reused paint cans. Medicinal materials are exposed to the sun in the middle of a busy road, which is not hygienic. The sign advertising the Treatment Room violates regulations, even though it is a private facility, it still uses the name of Hung Tay Commune Health Station.

Violations of Pharmacy Counter No. 25 of Hung Nguyen Pharmaceutical Branch include: Self-written advertisement on the signboard as meeting GPP standards while the inspection team did not have a license and some drugs did not ensure quality. In particular, the team discovered that the red medicine bottle with a foreign name had expired since March 15, 2018.

Working with the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh, Acting Director of Nghe An Department of Health, requested Hung Nguyen district to strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations; immediately after the inspection, the district Health Department closed the two unlicensed facilities mentioned above.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district, as of February 15, 2018, there were 102 private establishments operating in the area, of which 47 were operating without a license./.
