This year, the entire Huoi Son village has 55 households participating in the turmeric crop with an area of about 3 hectares. The estimated turmeric output is about 70 tons. Because it is planted on schedule, red turmeric is very suitable for the local climate, land and soil, so red turmeric grows and develops well, giving high yield.
Not only that, the people were also guided by the Youth Volunteers on planting techniques. Although this was the first year of implementing the model, the yield was quite impressive. It is estimated that on an area of 3 hectares, the people harvested no less than 70 tons. Currently, each kilogram of turmeric is purchased by the Youth Volunteers for 10,000 VND. This price is quite high compared to many other places.

The joy was clearly shown on the face of village elder Xong Nhia Mai, in Huoi Son village, Tam Hop commune, who said, “We had a good harvest right from the first crop, so everyone was very happy and excited. This crop, my family harvested about 3 tons, with a selling price of 10,000 VND/kg. So my family also earned about 30 million VND. This is quite a large amount of money for us.”
Mr. Xong Ba Xa shared: “Growing turmeric is very easy, low investment cost, easy to care for, does not take much time and is resistant to all kinds of pests and diseases. In the first crop, my family only planted 30 kg of seeds, but still harvested 600 kg. I am planning to expand the turmeric growing area this year because I see that turmeric is suitable for the soil and climate here.”

Lieutenant Vuong - Deputy Head of the Youth Union 9 said: "To solve the output for fresh turmeric products, the unit has boldly invested in machinery and prepared 2 warehouses of over 80 tons to preserve and process fresh turmeric into starch. Currently, the price of fresh turmeric on the market is around 5,000 - 7,000 VND/kg, but the Team still buys at 10,000 VND/kg. So that farmers will not be more secure in implementing the model. From reality, it shows that the effectiveness of the turmeric growing model has contributed to increasing income and improving people's lives."
