Stabbed neighbor to death, barricaded himself in house and continued to slash police

After committing the crime, Tam returned home with two knives and barricaded himself. When the police broke down the door and rushed in to control him, he cut off two fingers of the ward police chief.

On April 8, Sa Dec City Police, Dong Thap Province, announced that they had detained Nguyen Thanh Tam (born in 1970, residing in Hamlet 3, Ward 3, Sa Dec City) to investigate the act of murder.

Previously, at around 5:30 p.m. on April 7, people discovered a headless corpse in Hamlet 3, Ward 3, Sa Dec City. Approaching the scene and following the blood trail, local police discovered the victim's head about 25 meters away.

Continuing to follow the blood trail, the police entered Tam's house. Sa Dec City Police tried to persuade the subject to surrender, but the subject closed the door and barricaded himself in the house, holding two knives.

At around 6:30 p.m., the police broke into the house and arrested the suspect. At this time, Tam held a knife and fought back. During the process of controlling the suspect, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Minh - Chief of Police of Ward 3 was slashed by Tam, severing two knuckles of his right hand and leaving a deep slash on his right arm.

Lieutenant Colonel Minh is currently receiving intensive treatment at Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC).

Colonel Nguyen Chi Cong said that through identification, the victim was identified as Mr. Ho Thanh Nhan (born in 1959, permanent resident of group 3, ward 3).

According to initial testimony, Tam said that Mr. Nhan entered the garden without permission. There had never been any conflict between the two. Mr. Nhan was a normal worker, while the perpetrator was an alcoholic who had been sent to a rehabilitation facility for disturbing public order.

The incident is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
