After conceding the goal, Arsenal players pressed forward to attack in search of an equalizer. After many efforts, the Gunners leveled the score in the 28th minute with Aubameyang scoring after a delicate pass from Danny Welbeck.
Just 10 minutes after Aubameyang's goal, Arsenal fans continued to celebrate when Danny Welbeck's tricky shot left goalkeeper McCarthy helpless, 2-1 for Arsenal and that was also the result of the first half.
In the second half, Southampton pushed up their formation and continuously increased the pressure on Arsenal's defense. In the 73rd minute, new player Charlie Austin made a smart move before he defeated goalkeeper Petr Cech, equalizing 2-2 for Southampton.
The match was pushed to a climax when the two teams continuously played "tit for tat". However, once again Danny Welbeck became a "nightmare" for Southampton when he raised the score to 3-2 for Arsenal in the 81st minute.
In the final minutes of the match, although Southampton continuously increased the pressure, the match ended with a score of 3-2 in favor of Arsenal. With a spectacular victory, Arsenal had a perfect start for the second leg against CSKA Moscow in the Europa League./.
