In addition, Ms. Merkel also affirmed that the German Government warns against the use of chemical weapons and that Germany will comprehensively consider solutions used in the current context in Syria.
Germany will do everything possible to support the work of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons as well as other activities of the United Nations Security Council related to this issue.
It should be remembered that in early April, Western countries almost unanimously accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons to attack the town of Douma, Eastern Ghouta, Syria, killing dozens of people.
However, these accusations are unsubstantiated. The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Syrian government both confirm this. And in fact, to date, no investigation has been conducted to confirm the above accusations.
Regarding this issue, on Monday this week, US President D. Trump even threatened to use "smart" missiles in retaliation and warned Russia to "prepare" to receive this in Syria.
