At the meeting, the veterans reviewed the glorious tradition of the Navy Special Forces. On April 13, 1966, the Ministry of National Defense issued a Decision to establish the Navy Special Forces Reconnaissance Training Group.

During the 9 years from its founding until April 30, 1975, the Group provided 44 water commandos to the battlefield, burned 1.7 billion liters of oil; sank and burned thousands of American and puppet ships and combat boats...; together with local and regional commandos, fought more than 19,000 battles...

To meet the mission requirements, on the basis of the Naval Special Reconnaissance Training Group, on September 5, 1975, the Ministry of National Defense issued a decision to establish the 126th Marine Brigade, of which Battalion 861 was a Naval Special Battalion. This unit was later renamed the 126th Naval Special Brigade to this day.

The Navy Special Forces Group was honored to receive 16 golden words from Uncle Ho: "Brave, intelligent, overcoming difficulties, united to make achievements, continuous victory".

Returning to normal life, the Navy special forces officers and soldiers continue to promote their heroic qualities and take the lead in their activities. The work of repaying gratitude has been carried out well. To date, the Navy Special Forces Veterans Association has supported the construction of 14 gratitude houses with a total amount of nearly 1 billion VND and many savings books for the martyrs' relatives./.
