Hyundai Accent 2018 price from 425 million - threatening Vios in Vietnam
The new generation of B-class sedans switched to domestic assembly, changed design, upgraded technology, new gearbox but old engine.
The 5th generation Accent has completely changed compared to the previous generation. The design is more modern, youthful and individual. The B-class sedan shares the same chassis with the Elantra, is 29 mm wider, 70 mm longer, and has a 30 mm longer wheelbase than the previous generation. Overall dimensions are 4,440 mm long, 1,729 mm wide, and 1,460 mm high. Wheelbase is 2,600 mm. With this size, the Accent is slightly larger than the Vios in all dimensions, except for the 50 mm longer wheelbase.
The new styling gives the Accent a sleek, urban look. Key rivals like the City are sportier and more masculine, while the Vios is younger but still neutral. The Accent’s interior has a horizontal design that feels spacious and driver-oriented, although it’s not as sleek as its Elantra or Sonata siblings.
7-inch central screen, Apple CarPlay connection, Bluetooth, USB, AUX, 6-speaker audio. Accent also has a navigation system that Hyundai developed specifically for the Vietnamese market. Interior amenities on the highest-end version also include push-button start, leather-wrapped electric power steering wheel, leather seats, automatic air conditioning, sunroof, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, electric trunk. Driver support hasrear camera and cruise control.
The engine is still the Kappa 1.4 with 100 horsepower.at 6,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 132 Nm at 4,000 rpm. These figures are still similar to the previous generation, lower than the Vios 1.5 (107 horsepower and 141 Nm) and City 1.5 (118 horsepower and 145 Nm). The new point is that the CVT automatic transmission in the previous generation is replaced by a 6-speed automatic.

Accent 2018 has 2 transmission options: The new 6-speed automatic transmission applies new gear ratios to provide smooth shifting and optimize fuel consumption. The other option is the 6-speed manual transmission for smooth shifting and maximum fuel economy, bringing excitement to the driver. The 6-speed manual transmission version is still maintained.
The Korean car company also said it improved torsional rigidity by 32%, improved chassis to improve soundproofing quality and driving feel. Safety technology is quite rich with ABS anti-lock brakes, EBD electronic brake force distribution, BA emergency brake assist, ESC electronic balance, VSM vehicle control, HAC hill start assist, reverse sensor and 6 airbags. This amount of technology is similar to City and superior to Vios.
Accent 2018 has 4 versions, with corresponding prices of 1.4 MT Standard - 425 million, 1.4MT - 470 million, 1.4 AT - 499 million and 1.4 Special - 540 million. This price is down one level like an A-class car, making competitors wary. City currently has 2 versions, priced at 568 - 604 million. Vios has 3 versions, priced at 564-622 million. Thus, in both low and high versions, Accent is significantly lower than its competitors by 60-80 million.
Currently, Accent assembled in Ninh Binh has a localization rate of 12%, mainly horns, tire lights, batteries, floor mats, by the end of 2018 it will increase to 30% and the target in the first 6 months of 2019 is 40%. The total number of products of the company in Vietnam has65% are assembled cars, by 2018 the target is 98%.
Accent’s sales target is 900-1,000 cars/month. The sedan is also a product in the export plan. Hyundai Thanh Cong will start construction of a new factory in June to achieve this target, in addition to expanding its supporting industry network.
