Encourage people with disabilities to excel in life

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 19, Vinh City Association of People with Disabilities held its 2nd Congress, term 2018-2023.

Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and Vinh City People's Committee.

During the past term, the Vinh City Association of the Disabled has done a good job of taking care of health and improving the material and spiritual life of the disabled.

To date, the Association has 350 members participating in activities at 11 branches. Most members have been trained in vocational skills at facilities for the disabled and have stable jobs with good income, averaging 4 million VND/person/month.

In addition, cultural, artistic and sports activities are regularly organized to help people with disabilities gain confidence, improve their ability to participate in collective activities and restore their functions.

In the coming term, the Association sets the goal of continuing to consolidate and build the Association to become increasingly strong, creating conditions for people with disabilities to integrate into the community, live healthy, happy lives, and live useful lives for their families and society. Following Uncle Ho's teachings, Vietnamese people with disabilities are "Disabled but not useless".

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association for the Disabled and Vinh City People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's activities in 2017.

On the same day, the Provincial Association of the Disabled celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam Association of the Disabled (1998 - 2018). At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Disabled People's Day and emphasized the efforts of members who, despite their disabilities, always strive to improve their lives.
