Vietnamese invented anti-mistake accelerator pedal
For about 4 million, Vietnamese drivers can have a set of anti-mistake accelerator and brake pedals with an optional On/Off switch.

Based on the fact that there are many cases of mistakenly pressing the gas pedal and the brake pedal when driving a car, especially with automatic transmission cars, Mr. Nguyen Long Uy Bao and his friends in Saigon invented a system to limit the risk when the driver mistakenly presses the gas pedal, which was granted patent number 14087 by the Intellectual Property Office on May 18.
This system consists of mechanical parts and electronic microchips combined together, which will react by directly affecting the brake pedal when the driver accidentally steps on the accelerator pedal with strong force, helping to minimize risks and accidents caused by the vehicle accelerating out of control.
Specifically, the system takes power directly from the battery, without affecting other electrical systems on the vehicle such as power steering, ABS. The structure includes a sensor that measures the accelerator pedal speed, transmits information to the microprocessor, which then commands an automatic brake lever to pull the brake pedal down to limit speed, while emitting a sound and warning light.
In case the driver is accelerating, that is, the accelerator pedal exceeds the sensor's monitoring threshold, but suddenly presses the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor, there is an additional switch. At that time, the accelerator pedal acts on the switch, which will give the same automatic braking response as the sensor's information.
With this system, the driver can actively choose to turn it on or off. Therefore, for drivers who like a sporty driving style or need to step on the gas to overtake other vehicles on the highway, it will not be affected, because just turn off the system and the car will return to normal as originally designed.
Mr. Uy Bao said that he installed this technology on a Ford Escape with a 3-liter engine to test on public roads and the results were exactly as designed.
A Ford technical expert said that to truly apply this technology successfully on commercial vehicles, it is necessary to install this technology and test it in many different types of terrain and driving conditions, because in each situation, the driver must operate the accelerator and brake pedals accordingly. This technology is almost not applied by any car company or spare parts company.
The anti-mistake accelerator system can be designed to adjust accordingly, for example, strong braking effect like sudden braking or just need a moderate force to gradually reduce speed, reminding the driver. The price for a set of anti-mistake accelerator is about 4 million VND.
