Mitsubishi recalls Outlander and Lancer in Vietnam
An electrical system error forced Mitsubishi Vietnam to announce a recall involving nearly 1,000 Outlander, Outlander Sport and Lancer vehicles.
Mitsubishi Vietnam has just announced a new recall involving 3 models including Outlander, Outlander Sport and Lancer in the Vietnamese market. A total of 918 vehicles are affected in this recall. Mitsubishi did not announce the specific number of each vehicle model, only knowing that Outlander Sport and Lancer were produced in 2015, while Outlander and Outlander PHEV were affected in 2016.
Electrical system failure can cause the engine to stop suddenly, causing dangerous operation. |
The cause of the recall is due to the substandard solder joints inside the relay used for the engine control box, which may peel off due to the temperature generated during operation, causing poor electrical conductivity. This may cause the engine to stop while the vehicle is running, unable to restart, the engine warning light will come on and switch to safe mode.
Mitsubishi Vietnam said that it will replace the power control relay of the electrical system on affected vehicles free of charge at the company's authorized dealers and service stations nationwide. The estimated repair time is 20 minutes per vehicle. The recall started on May 7, 2018 and will last until May 6, 2020.
