The information was given by the Ministry of Transport at a meeting on the afternoon of April 23.

The Prime Minister requested to focus on overcoming shortcomings, weaknesses, and inadequacies including collection time, collection levels, exemptions and reductions for people in BOT station areas..., especially eliminating unreasonable costs of BOT stations.

"Based on the inspection and audit results, the Ministry of Transport has reviewed and settled part or all of the costs of a series of BOT and BT projects, with the settlement value reduced by about 20% compared to the total approved investment."

The above statistics were given by a representative of the Ministry of Transport at a meeting of the Government Standing Committee with a number of ministries, branches and localities on BOT road traffic projects on the afternoon of April 23.

At the meeting, the Ministry of Transport reported on the review of BOT projects and a number of plans and measures to implement this policy in the coming time, including non-stop automatic toll collection.

According to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, socializing resources in investment in developing transport infrastructure, especially in the context of limited budget, is necessary and a correct policy of the Party and State, and has been basically well implemented in recent times.

BOT projects have been inspected and audited to eliminate unreasonable costs during construction.

However, the Prime Minister emphasized that it is necessary to focus on overcoming shortcomings, weaknesses, and inadequacies including collection time, collection levels, exemptions and reductions for people in BOT station areas..., especially eliminating unreasonable costs of BOT stations.

Appreciating the 20% reduction in total approved investment for BOT projects after inspection and audit, the Prime Minister emphasized the spirit of openness and transparency in implementing BOT projects.

In addition, it is necessary to strictly implement the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 82 on ensuring security and order at BOT stations, including strict handling of those who incite, cause disturbances, deliberately sabotage, cause social disorder, and cause traffic jams. It is necessary to do a good job of communication so that people understand and support the implementation of this socialization policy.

The Prime Minister agreed with the roadmap for switching to automatic non-stop toll collection as reported by the Ministry of Transport, in which, BOT stations are encouraged to quickly switch to this type. The Ministry of Transport will soon announce the roadmap for people and businesses to know and monitor.

"It is necessary to conduct public bidding to select technology suppliers; be open and transparent to people and businesses during traffic; and ensure confidentiality of vehicle users' information," the Prime Minister directed.

Regarding the collection rate at non-stop stations, the Ministry of Transport will work specifically with the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to announce reasonable fee rates, in line with the current situation. The Ministry of Transport will monitor and promptly handle related situations and report to the Prime Minister.
