The sudden decision to withdraw from the race for the position of VFF Vice President for the 8th term was announced by Mr. Tran Anh Tu last night.

Withdraw to take care of VPF

Without mentioning Mr. Duc, the reason why Mr. Tran Anh Tu (Mr. Tu) decided to withdraw from the race for the position of Vice President of VFF for the 8th term is to devote time and effort to work at VPF. Mr. Tu said: "I have thought and found that by not participating in the election, I will have more time to focus on work at VPF and the Vietnamese professional tournaments which are having very positive developments."

Mr. Tu dropped out of the race for the VFF Vice President position to focus on managing VPF.

Mr. Tu emphasized that the great pressure on him holding many important positions in Vietnamese football was not the reason for his decision to give up the race for the position of Vice President of the VFF in the next term.

“That was not the reason why I resigned, even though there was a lot of pressure on me. Everyone knows that work results are the clearest demonstration of ability, not the title they hold.

I left the race because I realized that the controversies surrounding the VFF congress were creating negative public opinion, which could affect the image of Vietnamese football people in the eyes of fans, despite the professional progress that our football is achieving," said Mr. Tu.

Once again, Mr. Tu affirmed that his intention to run for the position of Vice President of VFF came from the goal of contributing to Vietnamese football. Therefore, when deciding to withdraw from this race, Mr. Tu also came from the viewpoint that "it is the most beneficial move for Vietnamese football at this time".

The pressure created by Mr. Duc and Mr. Thang has had results.

Mr. Tu declared his full support for plans that benefit Vietnamese football, so he hopes that the VFF congress will find the right person. In addition, although he is not running for the position of VFF Vice President, Mr. Tu is still running for the position of Executive Committee member.

After Mr. Tu withdrew, the position of Vice President of Finance only had two candidates: Mr. Le Van Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dong Luc Company and Mr. Tran Van Lieng, Chairman and General Director of Vietnam Cocoa Joint Stock Company.

Satisfy Mr. Duc

Mr. Tu gave up the race for the position of Vice President of Finance, which means Mr. Duc was satisfied and did not let Mr. Tu hold too many key positions in Vietnamese football at the same time.

Previously, Mr. Duc firmly declared that if Mr. Tu was elected as Vice President of VFF, he would withdraw HAGL from V-League. Mr. Duc did not accept Mr. Tu holding too many positions at the same time, because that would "only be harmful to Vietnamese football".

The move of Mr. Tu announcing his withdrawal from the race for the Vice President position must have pleased Mr. Duc. Therefore, there is no reason for the Mountain City boss to use his team as a “hostage” to Vietnamese football.

HAGL can focus on playing V-League without fear that its boss will suddenly ask to stop playing, just because the request to "ban" Mr. Tran Anh Tu from "playing" many roles was not met.

Xuan Truong and his teammates can focus on playing football in the V-League.

Apart from the above withdrawal, the candidates for other key positions of the 8th VFF term have not changed. The four candidates for the President position include Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, Nguyen Cong Khe, Le Quy Phuong and Can Van Nghia.

Of which, except for Mr. Nguyen Cong Khe, the 3 candidates for the position of Chairman are all waiting for written approval to run for election from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in accordance with regulations on decentralization of personnel management.

The four candidates for professional vice president include Mr. Duong Vu Lam, Pham Van Tuan - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Mr. Pham Ngoc Vien and current Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan.

The position of Vice President in charge of communications and external affairs has the most candidates. Including former VPF General Director Cao Van Chong, current Vice President Nguyen Xuan Gu, Mr. Luong Hoang Hung (Editor-in-Chief of Intellectual Property and Creation magazine), Mr. Nguyen Van Phu (Editor-in-Chief of Football newspaper), former Vice President of Communications and External Affairs Nguyen Lan Trung and former VFF General Secretary Phan Anh Tu.
