AVG shareholder group has returned more than 8,500 billion VND to MobiFone

In addition to the amount equivalent to 95% of shares that MobiFone has paid, the AVG shareholder group also temporarily paid nearly 60 billion for related expenses.

MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation has sent a document to the Ministry of Information and Communications reporting on the recovery of money in the case of MobiFone buying 95% of shares of AVG Global Audiovisual Joint Stock Company.

A source from AVG also confirmed the above information and said the payment includes service fees that MobiFone must pay to banks.

In a report sent to the management agency, MobiFone said that MobiFone's account at VietinBank Hanoi branch collected a total of over VND4,533 billion, and the account at BIDV Quang Trung branch collected over VND3,971 billion. Thus, as of April 26, AVG shareholders have transferred to MobiFone a total of more than VND8,505 billion (including the VND450 billion previously deposited). This amount includes the amount MobiFone paid to the group of shareholders transferring shares when purchasing 95% of AVG shares (more than VND8,445 billion) and over VND59.7 billion is the amount that the transferring shareholders temporarily paid for project-related expenses and the provisional interest on the amount MobiFone paid.

In the document, MobiFone clearly stated that it has not yet transferred shares back to the group of shareholders.According to this enterprise, there has not been any guidance from the competent state agency on the procedures for transferring shares or transferring AVG Company to shareholders. Therefore, MobiFone's account at BIDV bank was transferred by MobiFone and the shareholder who signed an agreement on intermediary payment with BIDV Quang Trung Branch.

MobiFone requested the Ministry to provide guidance on the next steps as well as request the Government Inspectorate to determine the amount of money transferred by shareholders so that MobiFone can comply with regulations.

Previously, the Ministry of Information and Communications reported to the Secretariat, the Government Standing Committee, and the Government Inspector General about the information on the cancellation of the share transfer agreement between the Vietnam Mobile Telecommunications Corporation (MobiFone) and the Global Audiovisual Corporation (AVG) after more than 2 years of MobiFone announcing the information.
