During the talks, the two sides planned to discuss resuming Red Cross dialogue and meetings of relatives living in the South and North in the aftermath of the Korean split.

The North Korean government also threatened to cancel the joint summit with the United States. At the same time, preparations for the meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un continue to be reviewed, the US State Department said.

The joint military exercise "Max Thunder" was held in South Korea on April 15. About 2,000 US and South Korean soldiers participated in this exercise.
