On the afternoon of May 16, a representative of the Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Province Police said that they had decided to prosecute the case and prosecute Pham Van Xuong (47 years old) and Pham Thanh Son (23 years old, Xuong's son), both residing in Tien Lu (Hung Yen), for murder.
At the same time, the Investigation Police Agency of Hung Yen Province issued an order to temporarily detain Pham Thanh Son and issue a special wanted notice for Pham Van Xuong after he fled the locality.
Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on May 13, Pham Van Xuong and Nguyen Van Mien (48 years old, living in Noi Le village) and some other people went to the house of Pham Van The (42 years old, living in the same village) to play and organize a meal.
At around 6:00 p.m. the same day, Xuong and Mr. Mien had a conflict that led to a fight, so everyone intervened to stop it.
Then Xuong went home to get the weapon and returned to Mr. The's house with his son Pham Thanh Son.
Seeing Mr. Mien standing in front of the gate, Xuong and Son beat Mr. Mien, then Xuong used a knife to slash Mr. Mien many times, causing the victim to die on the spot.
After committing the crime, Xuong and Son drove home, took another knife, and drove away on their motorbike. On the way, Xuong met Mr. Be (Mien's father) and used a knife to repeatedly slash Mr. Be, causing his death, before fleeing.
