Prosecution of female judge who received 300 million VND to give suspended sentence

The prosecution agency determined that judge Le Thi Bich Anh received 300 million VND from the defendant's family to give a suspended sentence.

On May 18, the Supreme People's Procuracy approved the decision to prosecute the accused Le Thi Bich Anh, judge and Deputy Chief Justice of the People's Court of Dan Phuong District, Hanoi, for the crime of Receiving bribes, as prescribed in Article 354 of the 2015 Penal Code.

The Supreme People's Procuracy's investigation agency has decided to apply measures to prohibit leaving the place of residence and suspend the government positions and party membership of the defendant Le Thi Bich Anh to serve the investigation.

It is known that judge Le Thi Bich Anh was assigned to try the case of Intentional Infliction of Injury, which occurred in Hong Ha commune, Dan Phuong district at the end of 2016.

During the trial, on August 2, 2017, Judge Le Thi Bich Anh received 300 million VND from defendant Nguyen Van Kien's family, with an agreement to give defendant Kien a suspended sentence.

On August 4, 2017, defendant Nguyen Van Kien was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison, so defendant Kien's family went to judge Bich Anh to demand the money back, and at the same time reported to the Supreme People's Procuracy.
