Rescued from human trafficking after texting teacher on Facebook
Detained in a hotel in Guangxi province (China), two female students from Lao Cai texted their homeroom teacher for help.
On the morning of May 19, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station (Quang Ninh) handed over two 16-year-old female students residing in Van Ban district (Lao Cai) to their families.

Earlier on the morning of May 18, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station received a report from Mr. Tuong and Mr. Van, the fathers of the two female students, about their daughters being tricked and sold to China.
Mr. Tuong said that the family received information about the two children through their homeroom teacher. From the social network Facebook, the two children texted the teacher for help because they were locked on the 7th floor of a hotel on La Sieu Street, Dong Hung City (Guangxi Province, China).
After more than two hours of receiving the information, the Mong Cai International Border Gate Border Guard Station coordinated with Chinese authorities to successfully rescue the two children.At around 11:30 p.m. the same day, at the border area of Zone 3, Ka Long Ward (Mong Cai City), Chinese authorities handed over two female students.
The victim said that on May 15, the two children went to Bac Ninh to find work and were lured by a woman whose name and address were unknown to them to Mong Cai city to work, then sold to China.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
