Two children died, suspected of being forced to drink pesticides
Mr. Duy (in Hanoi) jumped from the third floor of his house to the ground when his two children in the house were in critical condition, their bodies reeking of pesticide.
At around 11am on May 19, residents of Thuong village (Bich Hoa commune, Thanh Oai) discovered Nguyen Van Duy (32 years old) jumping from the third floor of his house to the ground. Inside the house, a 5-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl were in critical condition, their bodies reeking of pesticide.
All three were taken to the emergency room but two children died. Duy got tangled in an electric wire before falling to the ground and was seriously injured.
On May 20, the leader of Bich Hoa Commune People's Committee confirmed the incident and said that Duy and his wife had recently had frequent conflicts. "Authorities suspect that Duy forced his two children to drink pesticide and then jumped off the building," the leader said.
Hanoi police and Thanh Oai district police are continuing to investigate.
