Husband heartlessly kills pregnant wife and then sets up a fake crime scene
The man, after strangling his wife, poured Strychnos nux vomica into her mouth to fake a suicide.
On May 22, Lam Dong Provincial Police announced that they had initiated a criminal case, prosecuted and temporarily detained Dau Duc Quyen (36 years old), residing in Thanh My town, Don Duong district (Lam Dong) for murder. The victim was Quyen's wife, Cao Thi Truc (33 years old).
According to the suspect's initial statement, because Ms. Truc played a lottery game and got into a debt of 1 billion VND, along with suspecting Quyen of having an affair, the two of them often had conflicts. On the evening of May 9, Ms. Truc "asked" to die, Quyen also "asked" to die, so the suspect mixed Strychnos nux vomica into the wine for both of them to drink.

On May 10, the authorities came to conduct an autopsy on Ms. Truc's body, but her family refused to allow an autopsy, only asking for an external examination and not complaining.
On May 11, Dau Duc Quyen was brought by relatives to Don Duong District Police to confess to the act of injecting Strychnos nux vomica into his wife's mouth, causing her death.
On May 12, when Truc's body was just being loaded onto the hearse for burial, the authorities requested a temporary halt for an autopsy. The forensic examination determined that Dau Duc Quyen had strangled Truc to death first, then poured Strychnos nux vomica into his wife's mouth to create a fake crime scene.
It is known that Ms. Truc and Quyen had a 10-year-old son. When the murder occurred, Ms. Truc was several months pregnant with her second child.
