At approximately 1 PM on April 10, 2018, T. and a friend went swimming in the Con River section flowing through Nghia Dung commune, Tan Ky district, and T. drowned. At 7:10 PM the same day, T.'s body was found.

Around 5 PM on May 11, 2018, NCT and NCT (born in 2007, residing in Block 13, Thanh Chuong town, Thanh Chuong district) went to a pond next to National Highway 46 to swim and drowned. Later that evening, their bodies were handed over to their families.

At 2:30 PM on April 28, 2018, two children, D.XM and LTK (both born in 2008), residing in Hamlet 15, Quynh Van Commune, Quynh Luu District, drowned while swimming in the O Dau Dam. Both children were found dead.

At approximately 3 PM on May 20, 2018, a 10-year-old boy from Hamlet 3, Quynh Thanh Commune, Quynh Luu District, went swimming in the river with his older sister and a group of friends and drowned. At 1 AM on May 21, local residents discovered the boy's body in the river.

At 5:30 PM on May 21, 2018, NCH, a student in class 10 A5 at Bac Yen Thanh High School, went with two friends to the Quan Hai irrigation dam (located in Hung Thanh commune) to swim and drowned. Around 6:30 PM that same day, H.'s body was found.

At approximately 7 PM on May 22, 2018, three children, HTH (born in 2007), HNC (born in 2008), and LTD (born in 2007), students of Chau Thon Primary School (Que Phong district) residing in Na Ty village (Chau Thon commune), went frog hunting. When they reached the edge of a pond near their house, HTH slipped and fell into the water. Seeing this, HNC jumped in to pull her sister out but also drowned.
