10 habits to help you reduce your risk of cancer
Walking more, sitting less and not relying on dietary supplements... can help you reduce your risk of cancer by 40%.
To improve public health, every 10 years, TWorld Cancer Research Fund (WCRF)updated cancer prevention guidelines. According toHealth, the latest version of the guidelines has just been published based on data from 3.5 million cancer patients and includes the following 10 items:
- Maintain a healthy weight.
- Walk more, sit less.
- Eat plenty of whole grains, vegetables, fruits and beans.
- Avoid high calorie foods.
- Limit consumption of red meat and processed meat.
- Limit soft drink consumption.
- Do not drink alcohol.
- Do not rely on anti-cancer functional foods (especially for people who already have cancer because functional foods can hinder the treatment process).
- Breastfeeding for 6 months.
- Even if diagnosed with cancer, continue to follow the above instructions.

Dr Elisa Bandera, a member of the WCRF committee, said the new guidelines clearly show the impact of lifestyle on cancer risk. In fact, one in six deaths today is due to cancer.
It is estimated that by 2035, the number of cancer deaths will increase by 58% due to the influence of "Western lifestyle" in many countries. If we follow all 10 recommendations above, we can reduce the incidence of this terrible disease by up to 40%.
Even if you can't exactly meet the 10 recommendations, you should still try because "less is better than nothing." "For example, if it's hard to exercise for an hour a day, do 10 minutes. You need to start something," Dr. Bandera advises.
