Firebreaks will be built to prevent forest fires in the border area of Nghi Loc and Dien Chau.
(Baonghean.vn) - At the inspection of forest fire prevention work on the afternoon of May 28, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong said that in 2018, Nghe An will build a 3 km firebreak road on the border between Nghi Yen commune (Nghi Loc) and Dien Phu (Dien Chau) to reduce the risk of forest fires.

The working group inspected key pine forest communes of Nghi Loc district, namely Nghi Van, Nghi Lam, and Nghi Dong; it showed that the pine forests in these areas have been treated quite well; in Nghi Hung commune alone, there are still many areas that have not been treated, with a high risk of forest fires.
Nghi Loc district has over 7,000 hectares of pine forests, of which nearly 1,500 hectares have been treated, 24 notice boards have been maintained, and over 30 km of firebreaks have been built. To protect the pine forests, Nghi Loc maintains a direct system from the district to the commune, forest owners and guard towers.

In Dien Chau district, the working group inspected the forest area bordering Nghi Loc and Dien Phu commune (Dien Chau). According to the report of Dien Chau Forest Protection Department: the district currently has over 4,000 hectares of pine forest but it is mainly managed by the communes, only over 50 hectares of vegetation has been treated, and over 3 km of firebreaks have been built in Dien Phu and Dien Doai communes.
After inspecting the scene and speaking at the scene, Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts in fire prevention and fighting of Nghi Loc and Dien Chau districts. At the same time, he requested that in the coming time, the two districts need to step up propaganda work on fire prevention and fighting to each citizen; and strictly maintain the on-duty command regime throughout the hot season.

Dien Chau district alone needs to coordinate with other forces to maintain and repair more than 15 km of old firebreaks with thick vegetation; at the same time, soon have a plan to hand over pine forests to people for management to limit the risk of forest fires.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong also said that in 2018, the province will build a 3km firebreak runway in the border area between Nghi Yen commune (Nghi Loc) and Dien Phu (Dien Chau); relevant departments and branches will advise the Provincial People's Committee on a plan to have funding to soon implement this runway project.

Pine forest fire in Nam Dan
(Baonghean.vn) - At 3am on July 18, 2016, a fire broke out in a pine forest in Hamlet 4, Khanh Son Commune, Nam Dan District. The fire burned down 5 hectares of forest and spread to Hamlet 10, Nam Loc Commune.

Pine forest fire in Do Luong
(Baonghean.vn) - At noon on May 29, a forest fire broke out in Van Son commune, Do Luong district. By 3 p.m. the same day, the fire had not yet been controlled. Many hectares of pine forest had been burned down.
