Shuttle efforts toward Trump-Kim summit
(Baonghean.vn) - On May 29, President Donald Trump confirmed that a senior North Korean official is on his way to New York to prepare for the expected summit between Mr. Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

“We have assembled an outstanding team to engage in dialogue with North Korea,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Meetings are taking place regarding the Summit, and furthermore, Kim Yong Chol, Vice Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, is on his way to New York. What a positive response to my letter, thank you!”
Earlier the same day, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported that Kim Yong Chol, a former North Korean intelligence general, had arrived in Beijing, China, and from there flew to the United States to discuss with US officials to prepare for the summit.
The US-North Korea summit scheduled to take place on June 12 in Singapore is expected to create a breakthrough on the North Korean nuclear issue and establish permanent peace on the Korean peninsula.
