(Baonghean.vn) - For the first time, a farmer in Nam Dan district has successfully grown Korean cantaloupe, initially yielding high income.

The family of Mr. Nguyen Kim Nam experimented with growing Korean melons in 2017, and this year, he continued to invest in over 1,000 melon plants on an area of nearly 2 acres.
According to Mr. Nam, learning from the previous season, this year the melon plants are growing better, with fewer pests and diseases, and are quite easy to care for. All that's needed is sufficient fertilizer and an investment in a drip irrigation system. After about 70 days of growth and development, the plants will yield their first harvest; the harvesting period lasts for two weeks.

Korean melons, when ripe, have a light yellow color, a sweet taste, and a delicate aroma, making them popular in the market.
According to estimates, Mr. Nam's melon crop this year yielded over 1 ton of fruit, with a purchase price of 40,000 VND/kg at the farm; the production value reached 20 million VND per sao (approximately 1000 square meters). This is a new melon variety with high economic value, and the market is still scarce, making it an opportunity for farmers to get rich from agriculture.
