After the Literature exam, the Math exam for 10th grade in Hanoi continues to leak out.
A teacher at Van Noi High School exam site (Dong Anh) took photos of both the Literature and Math exam questions and posted them outside.
5:30 p.m. June 7, one hour after the end of the 10th grade math exam at Hanoi public schoolMr. Le Ngoc Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, admitted that the Math exam was leaked again. After the candidates had finished the exam for about 60 minutes, a photo of the Math exam appeared on social networks.
The Department coordinated with the police to verify and discovered that teacher Nong Hoang Phuc, Mai Dinh Secondary School (Soc Son), who was the second exam supervisor, brought a phone into the room, took pictures of the exam papers and sent them out at the Van Noi High School exam site (Dong Anh). This officer confessed to his actions and admitted to taking pictures of the morning Literature exam papers.
Hanoi Department of Education: "Teachers let exam questions out" |
"We are verifying who the photo was sent to first, who continued to distribute it later, for what purpose and what the impact was. Bringing a phone into the exam room is a violation, taking a photo of the exam and sending it outside is even more serious, violating teachers' ethics. After verifying the details of the violation, we will handle it according to the regulations, with a strict spirit," Mr. Quangspeak.
Deputy Director Quang confirmed that the Math test was leaked, not leaked, because the leak must have been before the seal of the test bag was broken.
Although "the extent of the spread of the exam is being verified", Mr. Quang still believes that the incident will not affect the test results of the candidates. Because only 10 minutes after the math exam was spread on the Internet, the authorities discovered and suspended the offending teacher, so "there is definitely no solution that was sent into the exam room".
"We confirm that after about 10 minutes, everything happened very seriously," Mr. Quang said.

The Department of Education leader said that in the afternoon exam, there were no more candidates who violated the regulations on bringing phones and documents into the exam room like in the morning. After the Literature exam leaked, the Department directed 185 exam sites and asked the exam rooms to closely monitor, especially the use of smart technology devices in the exam room.
Responding to the suspicion that the Literature exam could have been leaked before the exam was distributed because the photo of the exam circulating on the internet was very "clean", without candidate information or the invigilator's signature, Deputy Director Quang said: "In the high-tech era, people can use editing technology to erase that information.".
According to the Hanoi Department of Education's exam schedule, the exam supervisors will distribute the exam papers at 2:25 p.m., and the candidates will begin taking the Math test at 2:30 p.m., lasting 120 minutes. However, shortly after the exam papers were distributed, a photo of the exam papers with the candidates' names, registration numbers, and the invigilator's signatures appeared on social media.
Math questions were shared by groups a few minutes after the candidates started their test (2:30 p.m.). |
Waiting for their children outside the exam site, many parents were upset about the spread of math questions on social media. Many people were worried that the leaked exam questions would affect the exam results, especially when the competition for admission to public grade 10 was the fiercest ever. Nearly 95,000 candidates took the exam and nearly 32,000 were eliminated.
Previously, during the Literature exam that morning, after the one-hour time limit, a photo of the exam paper was circulated on social media. This paper was the same as the paper the candidate brought home after the exam ended.
Deputy Director of the Department of Education Le Ngoc Quang affirmed: "This is a case of exam questions being leaked, not exam questions being leaked. Because exam questions must be leaked before the exam seal is broken, but in this case, we verified that the exam questions were leaked at 9:08 am."
In the 2018-2019 school year, Hanoi had nearly 94,500 students taking the 10th grade entrance exam, the highest number ever. Due to the sudden increase of more than 18,700 "golden goat" candidates from 2003 compared to the previous year, the city had to arrange 185 exam sites, more than 3,970 exam rooms and mobilize 10,030 high school and middle school teachers to supervise the exams. The quota for public 10th grade admission this year is 63,050, meaning nearly 32,900 students will have to go to expensive private high schools, or study at vocational schools or continuing education schools. Unlike many other provinces and cities, candidates in Hanoi only have to take two exams: Math and Literature. The admission score for grade 10 is the sum of the secondary school score (coefficient 1) plus the exam score (coefficient 2) and priority and incentive points. |
