Honoring 50 groups and individuals in the Voluntary Blood Donation Movement
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of June 13, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation held a ceremony to honor outstanding groups and individuals in the voluntary blood donation movement from 2014 to 2017.
Attending the honoring ceremony were comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of departments and branches and typical examples in the voluntary blood donation movement.
The ceremony is a meaningful activity, aiming to express gratitude to the noble deeds of those who have voluntarily donated blood to save lives. This is also an activity in response to the World Voluntary Blood Donor Day (June 14).

Nghe An's Voluntary Blood Donation Movement was launched in 2004. After nearly 15 years, the movement has been developed and expanded throughout the province and the amount of blood collected has increased 20 times compared to the first year of implementation. In the 3 years from 2014 to 2017 alone, the province received nearly 10,000 units of blood, with a voluntary blood donation rate of 70%.
From this movement, many outstanding examples for the community have emerged such as Thai Hoang Quan (student of Vinh University of Technical Education) with 35 blood donations, Nguyen Ba Hien (Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Quynh Thien Ward - Hoang Mai Town) with 13 blood donations...

Besides, there are also many collectives that are always at the forefront of the blood donation movement of the province such as Anh Son district, Thai Hoa town, Nghia Dan, Quy Chau, Hung Nguyen, the Provincial Youth Union, and the Provincial Police Union.
The province has established 31 voluntary blood donation clubs; 1 club for people with rare blood type Rh(-); 2 live blood bank clubs.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his deep gratitude to those who participated in voluntary blood donation, those who brought "reviving blood" to the sick. He also affirmed that the typical and excellent examples at the ceremony will be the core, not only continuing to donate blood to save people, but also continuing to propagate and mobilize relatives, friends, comrades, and colleagues to actively participate in blood donation so that there will be more and more shining examples of voluntary blood donation.

At the honoring ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also called for and hoped that in the coming time, he would continue to receive the cooperation and sharing of Party committees at all levels, authorities, departments, branches, organizations, localities and a large number of people from all walks of life to respond to the voluntary blood donation movement, with the message "Healthy heart - You and I donate blood together",contribute to the cause of public health care.
On this occasion, 8 groups and 42 outstanding individuals in the voluntary blood donation movement were honored and rewarded by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation.
